20+ GenAI Tasks in Production
Enterprise Generative AI Platform on AWS for Multi-Office Legal Practice
How Cogninest AI engineered an AWS Bedrock-powered legal automation engine and multi-agent Copilot with 84 live tools, tenant isolation, and hourly notice extraction.
Repetitive document intake, high-stakes court notices, and manual filing across multi-office operations
High-volume immigration and legal practices face an overwhelming burden of repetitive data entry and strict deadlines. For every case, paralegals and attorneys collect passports, birth and marriage certificates, prior filings, and questionnaires, repeatedly re-keying the identical facts across lengthy government PDF forms and state/federal web portals. Hearing and appointment notices from courts and immigration authorities arrive continuously by email and physical mail across multiple offices. Each notice must be promptly read, matched to the correct case file, and calendared—where a single missed deadline or misfiled form can lead to devastating consequences for clients. Furthermore, attorneys required immediate operational answers regarding dormant matters, detention rosters, overdue tasks, and retainer audits, yet were bottlenecked by slow custom reports. To scale safely, the firm required a secure generative AI platform built directly into its practice-management application with strict per-office tenant isolation, PII sanitization, and mandatory human-in-the-loop attorney verification.
- Repetitive re-typing of client facts across multi-applicant family petitions and government portals created substantial clerical overhead and risk of rejection.
- Scattered hearing and appointment notices across multiple office mailboxes created risks of missed court dates and critical calendar deadlines.
- Partners and attorneys lacked immediate visibility into firm operations, requiring IT assistance for routine case, detention, and billing audits.
- Strict legal ethics and confidentiality demanded fail-safe multi-tenant isolation, PII masking before model exposure, and attorney supervision before any filing.
Two-Tiered Legal AI Architecture: Intelligent Document & Forms Engine + 84-Tool Agentic Copilot
Cogninest AI architected and delivered two secure Python microservices integrated directly into the law firm's practice-management platform via shared authentication tokens. The architecture decouples background document processing and supervised browser automation from conversational practice intelligence and drafting, all powered by Anthropic Claude models on Amazon Bedrock with strict per-office isolation.
Phase 1: Form Schema Analysis & Intelligent Document Extraction
Engineered an automated form library where Claude Opus 4.5 analyses blank immigration PDFs into reusable field schemas, coupled with Claude Haiku 4.5 vision pipelines that extract structured client facts from IDs, certificates, and questionnaires with temperature 0 deterministic precision.
Phase 2: Supervised Portal Filing & Hourly Mail-to-Calendar Automation
Built Celery and Kafka-driven browser automation for online filings (I-130, I-131, I-485, I-539, DS-160) under strict attorney supervision with no auto-submit permissions. Deployed an hourly calendar pipeline that virus-scans attachments and extracts hearing, courtroom, and docket details into staff review queues.
Phase 3: AI Copilot with 84 Live-Data Tools & Read-Only Text-to-SQL
Constructed a LangGraph-orchestrated practice assistant with 84 domain tools spanning cases, billing, court appearances, and leads, backed by a validated read-only SQL engine for complex firm analytics, exporting seamlessly to Excel and Word.
Phase 4: Case Briefs, RAG Search & Citations-Grounded Legal Drafting
Implemented tenant-isolated Qdrant vector collections for instant document Q&A and automated case briefs. Built a LangGraph drafting flow on Claude Sonnet 4.6 that synthesizes exhibits and prior filings into citation-grounded Word pleadings with iterative revision capabilities.
Phase 5: Enterprise Governance, PII Masking & Model-Provider Agility
Integrated client-side PII masking to sanitize emails, phone numbers, and case IDs before reaching models. Configured a provider-neutral model layer allowing any of the 20+ AI tasks to transition between models via AWS Secrets Manager configuration without code redeployment.
"Generative AI has transformed our multi-office practice from tedious administrative backlog into an automated, continuous operational engine. Our attorneys and paralegals spend less time re-typing documents and chasing court notices, and more time focusing on client advocacy."
